The ‘justice’ system and racism

Eek. I’d come across this report before – but only in the context of educational standards, that concluded that Chinese girls were doing the best of all groups at GCSE. But I hadn’t come across this part (pointing out that ethnic minorities are massively overrepresented in the custodial system) before.

This is data that needs to come to light. It’s not fair, it’s not right. My friend asked me today why I felt the need to be anti-kyriarchy, what inequality did I see. This sort of thing is the answer.

Again, it’s a reminder to the UK not to automatically think it’s better than the US. In this respect, we are worse.

And why won’t the Government comment on individual parts? It seems to me that they are the very people who ought to be a) commenting and b) trying to change the situation.
